That may be true, but teamsters are more affected by the price of oil than any other group in the country. The price of diesel is over $4.60 in my area. That makes them susceptible to the 'drill now' argument. I'm not saying that a lot of them can't see past the falsehoods of that solution, however a lot of them are desperate for some kind of relief from high fuel prices.
Ah, but the conservative's hope for the diesel crowd is only sustainable if the drillers can convince everyone that the price is high now and will be significantly lower later. It's entirely possible that they've been so "ooga-booga!" about oil prices that they've lost the second half of the conditional.
If the diesel crowd realizes prices are high now and are going to stay high, they have the greatest incentive to find alternatives since, as you say, they're more affected than any other group in the country.
One good thing about diesels is that they can be converted to run other fuels quite easily.
